Dr. Babik is not only a soccer player and a huge Kickers fan. He also sponsors the Ethiopian Ski Team. That’s right. This cross-country ski team, from a country with very little snow, is reminiscent of the Jamaican Bobsled Team, which millions came to know and love 22 years ago, as the underdog team in the 1988 Winter Olympics. The Ethiopian Ski Team trains, in its predominantly tropical climate, with roller blades with sticks attached.
Dr. Babik takes inspiration from these athletes. He uses sports as a platform from which to reach as many people as possible–particularly youth—with the message that dental health, and health in general, is your best investment.
Through the Richmond Kickers, Dr. Babik educates those in the youth program—which includes some 6,000 kids—about the importance of dental hygiene. They learn early—and their parents learn early—that going to the dentist is a positive experience. Dr. Babik takes the time to make it that way. From The Dr. Babik’s logo (a tooth with a great soccer kick), to instructions on lifelong dental hygiene, Dr. Babik knows how to kick his message out to the kids.
Awarded with the “Best of Glen Allen” award for three consecutive years, Dr. Babik also earned the “Seal of Excellence” from the Consumer Research Council of America. A local contributor to educational and cultural art institutions, Dr. Babik is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Omicron Kappa Epsilon Honor Dental Society (only 10% of dentists across the country are invited to be members in it), the American Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Richmond Dental Association.
